Our TECSOL (Teaching English to Child Speakers of Other Languages) courses have been especially created to give graduates the important skills they need to help kids learn. Throw everything you learned in your adult TESOL class out the window because we’re going to show you how to teach kids!

Overview

Greenwich College offers Australia’s first government accredited TECSOL course that will help set you up for a successful career teaching English to children. Children have little interest in sitting still in a classroom and love to play, which makes teaching them a real challenge. We will teach you how to deliver age-appropriate English lessons in a variety of teaching contexts, including kindergartens, pre-school, primary schools and young learner academies.

During your studies, you will:

  • Spend a week working with children in pre-school or kindergarten for a real understanding of the environment
  • Learn to design age-specific activity based lessons for children
  • Develop skills in syllabus design
  • Learn games, songs, chants and activities that are proven effective in the classroom

Pre-School Placement
Learning about teaching English to children is not complete without the true experience of actually working with them. Greenwich College arranges for every TECSOL trainee to spend one week at an Australian pre-school. Experience first-hand what it’s like to teach and play with children. It’s the perfect way to put into practice what you learn in your English teacher training course.
