Learn English in one of our General English Courses and develop core skills so that you can speak English confidently and communicate in any environment whether that’s travelling, at work, or in social and everyday situations.



Overview

With small classes led by experienced teachers, our communicative teaching methods provide plenty of interaction and opportunities to practice English conversation. Our lessons focus on your specific English learning goals – get useful feedback and support to develop your skills and confidence faster. General English classes consist of core classes Monday to Thursday and Elective classes every Friday.

General English study can help to improve:

  • Structure, grammar, vocabulary and idioms
  • Communication and conversation strategies
  • Pronunciation

General English also provides the foundation English skills to prepare you for other programs at Greenwich College. General English is a great starting point for students who are unsure of how they want to use their English in the future. Greenwich College offers flexible English learning programs that make it easy to move from one course to another.

Friday Electives

  • Choose different classes each week from some of our exciting Friday Elective Options:
  • Watch movies and documentaries to analyse language in context
  • Go on a class excursion in Sydney to put your lessons into real use.
  • Become a journalist for a day and work on a special newsletter with your class
  • Build your vocabulary for a specific industry such as Graphic Design, Multi-media, Sports, Drama and other fields.
  • Practise for the TOEIC exam at prep sessions

Entry Requirements

  • Students of all English levels can join.
  • Students will do a placement test on their first day and be assigned to a class level ranging from Beginner to Upper Intermediate.

Duration

  • Courses start every Monday
  • Study 1 to 50 weeks




English Club

English Club provides all Greenwich College students further practice their English lessons with more teachers and fellow students. English Club is free and available Monday to Thursday, 3pm-4pm. Students who regularly attend English Club also receive gifts from Greenwich College including lunch vouchers, movie tickets and Sydney day trips. All English Club lessons are delivered by TESOL Trainees under the supervision of a qualified Greenwich College Trainer.
