- How do I get a visa?
Greenwich staff can arrange student visas for all day-time courses. (such as IELTS, General English and TESOL). You need to provide your passport and Greenwich will do the rest.
- Where can I stay?
Greenwich staff can help find you accommodation. There are backpackers and hostels nearby. You could do a home stay, rent an apartment or share a house with other people: Greenwich can help you with all this.
- Can I Work?
Yes, on a student visa you can work for 20 hours a week. Greenwich can assist you to find a job, Sydney is probably the best place in Australia for students to find employment, and most students who wants to work can usually find some kind of job. Unemployment in Sydney is below 5%, the best rate for over 30 years.
- When can I sart?
You can join General English and IELTS classes every Monday by arriving at 9:00am for the Placement Test & Interview. You can join Teacher Training courses by making arrangements with staff before the start of the course. You can visit Greenwich between 9:00 and 6:00, Monday to Friday.
- Who will help me if I have problems in Sydney?
Greenwich College employs student counsellors to assist our students. We pride ourselves on the family-like atmosphere of our college, and our teachers and directors are also willing to help, should you need it.
- What can I do on the weekend?
You can visit Sydney's beaches, pubs, parks, cafes, shops and markets on your own. Or you can join our Saturday Club, and explore Sydney with friends. Although over 4 million people live in Australia's biggest city, there is spectacular bush-land within an hour of the CBD, and Sydney makes a great base from which to visit the rest of Australia.
- How much will my English improve?
This varies from person to person, but Greenwich provides small classes and first rate teachers & programs to optimise your progress. A typical student at Greenwich should move up an ISLPR level after a few months study.
- Can I get food from home?
Yes. Sydney is a big multi-cultural city, and there are shops, restaurants and supermarkets from every region of the world. You will also be able to get books, videos and even TV programs from most countries of the world.
- What's the weather like?
Sydney has warm weather all year round. Winter days are usually between 7-18 degrees and summer days between 18-30 degrees. Occasionally it rains, but most days are sunny with blue skies.
- What will I do when I arrive at the airport?
Greenwich College can organise airport pickups to take you from the airport to your accommodation. And if you're doing a home stay, we can usually arrange for the family to pick you up directly.
- Will Greenwich help me enter university or college?
Yes. An IELTS score is an essential part of applying for university and Greenwich has a first-rate IELTS program. Greenwich also has connections with several Australian colleges and universities, and can assist you with making study arrangements.
