    Dear Valued Partners,
    Welcome to the Greenwich College September 2007 newsletter. This month we would like to introduce Natalie (who is currently teaching in Thailand), and Teacher Trainer testimonials of recent Greenwich College graduates.

    Natalie Jones (Teacher)

    Natalie Jones comes from Rockhampton, the Beef Capital of Australia in northern Queensland.
    She has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, a Graduate Diploma of Museum Studies and a Certificate IV in TESOL.
    Natalie has been teaching English as a second language for nine years in Australia and has also taught in the Czech Republic and Taiwan. She has taught all ages and classes, from babies to business people.
    Natalie after being introduced to Thai culture (back in June) is now currently teaching at Saraburi, Thailand. She is really enjoying the challenge of teaching the monks and local children, and the Thai culture.
    Natalie is a self-confessed word nerd who loves nothing more than a good game of Scrabble.

    Welcome to the Greenwich College October 2007 newsletter. This month we would like to introduce 2 brand new exciting courses which Greenwich College is now offering - The Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Australia's first and only accredited Certificate IV in TECSOL.


    Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)

    The Greenwich College course is designed for non-native speakers delivered in an English Language College with staff who understand the challenges of studying in another language.
    The course schedule for 2007 - the 1st and 3rd Sataurday of each month (10:00am to 5:00pm) and will cost $65.00.


    "Australia's first and only accredited TECSOL course"
    Certificate IV in Teaching English to Child Speakers of Other Languages (Certificate IV in TECSOL)

    Teaching English to Child Speakers of Other Languages (TECSOL) is an intensive introduction to teaching English to children aged between 4 and 12 years of age.
    The Certificate IV in TECSOL goes further by offering a nationally recognised training qualification - Australia's first and only recognised TECSOL course (Nationally Recognised Training qualification and fully accredited by VETAB).
    Greenwich College will continue to offer students two quality TECSOL programs that are designed to suit the needs of our trainees - The original TECSOL program that has been so popular over the years and the newly designed Certificate IV in TECSOL.

    New collaboration with Universities
    Sydney University and Macquarie University will join the University of Western Sydney in placing their MA students in Greenwich for practicum work.

    Certificate IV in EAP
    18/02/2008 (16weeks) and 17/03/2008 (12weeks)

    Designed for students looking to study in Universities and Colleges in Australia.
    Now with an articulation with the University of Wollongong.


    Christmas Closure
    Greenwich College will be closed from Monday 24 December until 4 January 2008 (FCE students only start on Wednesday 2 January).

    IELTS students test results
    The last couple of months has again seen our IELTS students excel in the real IELTS exam.

    Agent/Student Seminars
    Greenwich College has been conducting seminar/demonstration lessons in agent offices over the last few months. Not only is a great way to train your staff, but also a way to draw students to your office. If you are interested in participating, please contact the marketing team.

    NEW Teachers at Greenwich
    PAULA NOLAN
    Bachelor of Education and French/TEFL/Graduate Diploma in Film Studies
    Paula has been teaching since 2001 in primary schools. In Singapore she also taught English to children from 4 to 16 and adults. She really enjoys travelling and finding out about new cultures and countries. Her interests include movies, reading, going to the theatre and quizzes!

    IAN SYNNOTT
    Bachelor of Science (Eng), CELTA
    Ian grew up in Ireland and came to Australia over a decade ago. After university he moved on to pursue a career in teaching. He has taught various courses including GE, IELTS, Cambridge, EAP, TOEIC and TOEFL in Ireland, Japan and Australia. He is a certified IELTS examiner and is currently completing a Masters degree in Education (TESOL).

    Congratulations to the following teachers—Zoe, Ben, Simon and Kerry who have been accepted into the IELTS Examiner Training Course starting in February.

    Professional Development of Teachers
    Greenwich College is committed to continuing the professional development of our teachers which allows our teachers to continue improving their teaching skills.

    This year we have increased our program of peer observation. This allows our teachers to observe each other and also give feedback.
    Many of our teachers are doing post graduate studies in TESOL/Education/Applied Linguistics.

    Our EAP Coordinator, Zoe Hancock, gave a paper at the University of Technology, Sydney in December last year about how the media portrays indigenous issues.

    Welcome to Greenwich College February 2008 newsletter.
    In this edition we would like to introduce you to Zoe, our EAP teacher and also to our NEW evening IELTS course.

    Greenwich Teacher Profile (EAP)
    Ms. ZOE HANCOCK
    Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), CELTA, Master of Applied Linguistics
    Zoe Hancock was born in Country New South Wales and went to high school in Wollongong. She studied a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) at University of Wollongong.
    After she graduated she decided to go to Japan to teach English. She loved living in Japan and stayed there for 4.5 years. While she was there she realized that she had a passion and a talent for teaching English, so she studied her CELTA (teaching certificate) when she returned to Australia.
    She began teaching at an English college in Sydney. However she decided she wanted more of challenge, so she moved to the University of New England to teach English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
    Zoe loves teaching EAP because all of her students are motivated to learn academic skills. She prepares her students to study at an Australian university. She gives her students not only the linguistic, but also the cultural skills to succeed in the Australian university environment.
    Zoe co-wrote Greenwich's Certificate IV in EAP and is very excited to be teaching the first course.
    Greenwich has articulations with both University of Wollongong and the University of New England. Zoe will be able to give students very useful advice about studying at these universities as she studied and worked at them.
    Zoe has also taught on the certificate IV in TESOL course at Greenwich and recently graduated from her Masters of Applied Linguistics course at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS).
    She looks forward to teaching our EAP course and helping more students go to universities in Australia.

    NEW Evening IELTS course
    Starting on 11/02/2008
    The evening course follows the same model as the popular daytime program but with the flexibility for students who may be working or studying elsewhere during the day.
