Cambridge First Certificate in English Preparation (FCE)

 Course Information:
This 10 – 12 week course is well known all over the world as an excellent English Language course. It is ideal if you want to work or study abroad or to develop a career which requires language skills. FCE indicates sufficient proficiency in English to be of practical use in jobs in many industries where contact with English speakers is required. Successful candidates have the ability to deal with routine letters and telephone enquiries, and to cope with some non-academic training courses and simple textbooks and articles. The course is designed to prepare students for the FCE exam which covers five areas (Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing, and Use of English).
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
· 6.0 IELTS General Training Module; or
· TOEIC/TOEFL equivalent; or
· Greenwich College Entry Test every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00am
DURATION AND HOURS
· Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm
· 10 – 12 weeks at 25 hours face-to-face teaching per week
· No ‘self study’ periods
· Practice exams and interviews every Friday based on the real exam

Course Outcomes:
· An understanding of the FCE exam structure
· Practical exam strategies including pre-reading, organization and timing
· Integrate a wide range of vocabulary
· Be able to construct an argument and use appropriate communication styles for a variety of situations
· Gain awareness of register and of the rules of politeness and degrees of formality as they are expressed through language
