Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
 

Course Information:

There are over 12,000 licensed venues including: bars, hotels, pubs and clubs, retail liquor outlets, restaurants, functions, and events in NSW employing full time and part time staff. It is required, by law, for people working in these venues (those involved in the sale, supply or promotion of alcohol) to have completed an approved Responsible Service of Alcohol training course.   Candidates holding Greenwich College’s certificate will be eligible to apply for positions in these licensed venues.
 
The aim of this training program is to provide candidates with the knowledge and understanding required to act responsibly when selling, supplying or promoting alcohol in relation to their responsibilities, workplace duties, the law, customer service, and duty of care and harm minimisation.

DURATION AND HOURS
·         1 day course
·         6 hours face-to-face with a qualified RSA Trainer
·         Contact Greenwich College for start dates
 
 
 
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
·         A reasonable understanding of English
·         Must be at least 18 years of age

Course Content:

 
The RSA course is a competency based program covering:
·         Identifying the context of Responsible Service of Alcohol
·         Awareness of Drink-Driving and prevention
·         Measuring the outcomes of Responsible Service of Alcohol on premises
·         Police powers
·         The Impact of Alcohol Abuse
·         Legislative framework for Responsible Service of Alcohol
·         Implementing Responsible Service of Alcohol strategies
·         The Liquor Act overview and the Liquor Industry Code of Practice
·         Alcohol and your health
·         Responsible promotion of liquor
·         Intoxication – Indicators and Offences
 
The Greenwich College course is designed for non-native speakers featuring –
·         Face-to-face workshops using visual aids, video footage, group work and printed materials
·         Work at a comfortable pace with experienced trainers in a friendly environment
·         Delivered in an English Language College with staff who understand the challenges of studying in another language
·         Central city location with quality facilities including a lunch room, kitchen and computer lounge with internet
 
COURSE OUTCOMES
This course is accredited under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF), Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB NSW), and is approved by the Liquor Administration Board (LAB) as satisfying the RSA training provisions.
 
Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will receive a “Responsible Service of Alcohol” Statement of Attainment (THHBFB09B) and a NSW LAB “Responsible Service of Alcohol” Certificate enabling candidates to apply for positions in licensed bars, hotels, pubs and clubs, retail liquor outlets, restaurants, functions, and events.
